Sally Loaring

MA MBACP

Hello, I’m Sally.

At Core Psychotherapy and Counselling York, I believe that when people connect, change can happen. I offer thoughtful, relational therapy for adults and young people over 16 who want to understand what lies at their core and feel empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. Many people come to therapy when they begin to question long-held beliefs, notice repeating patterns in relationships, or feel overwhelmed by experiences they’ve carried alone for too long.

Talking these things through with someone who is trained to listen can make a profound difference.

You may be feeling disconnected from others, stuck in familiar dynamics, or unsure why certain situations leave you anxious, confused, or unsettled. Some people notice they always prioritise others and rarely consider their own needs. Others feel weighed down by past experiences that continue to shape how they respond in the present.

Therapy offers safety to explore these experiences with compassion and curiosity. Together, we can look at what’s happening for you, understand what lies beneath these patterns, and gently work towards a more grounded, connected way of living. Our relationship is where healing can begin.

I am a qualified psychotherapist (MA MBACP) working with individuals aged 16+. I offer face-to-face therapy in York and North Yorkshire, as well as online counselling across the UK. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and centred on your unique needs—supporting you to understand yourself more fully and move towards the life you want to live.

I also work as a tutor at the University of Leeds on the MA Psychotherapy and Counselling programme, supporting students training to be qualified therapists on BACP and UKCP Accredited programmes. I offer personal therapy to a limited number of trainee therapists (Level 4 and above). Please ask about this and how I can help your counselling journey using the form below for more details.
